MD 188

I grew up in Bethesda MD on MD Route 188 – Wilson Lane.  This road is three miles going from the Bethesda business district to MacArthur Blvd in Glen Echo.  It became a bike route for me and connected to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath.  This opened up worlds for me as a youth, to be able to bike safely into Washington, DC (Georgetown) or to go north to Great Falls.

US ROUTE 29

This route extends 1,036 miles from Near Ellicott City, MD, to Pensacola, FL.  My familiarity with this route is the stretch from the greater Washington,DC area to Charlottesville, VA, where I went to architecture school at UVA.  I always enjoyed this rural drive once I got away from the suburbs of Northern Virginia.

For today, the Route 66 exercise routine is “Route 29”, 2+9

Mosey to Basketball Courts

Mercer County Route 571

For the last 43+ years, I have lived on this route in the Penns Neck section of West Windsor, outside of Princeton.  This route extends from Princeton out to Toms River, New Jersey , 44 miles.  Three of my favorite places along this route – – the Washington Road allee of elm trees as one approaches Princeton University; the West Windsor Community Park, the home AO of “The Rising” of F3 Princeton; and Old Hights Brewing Company in Hightstown , where the brothers of F3 Princeton have had some great pub stops there together.

COT

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I’m strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We’ll get there

For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

  • from “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” by the Hollies, 1969

It is always an honor to lead. I do not take it for granted.

Your brother,

Dos
